THE GREAT DRAKE PARK DUCK RACE 2024

It all started back in 1990 as a fun and quirky community event held in Drake Park. Since then, the Great Rotary Duck Race has grown to become a fixture in the community’s early fall event schedule and includes all 4 Bend area Rotary clubs, local credit unions (and selected charities) selling $5 raffle tickets to raise funds for local nonprofits. Since 1989, the race has generated over two million dollars for Central Oregon charities, all supporting children and families in need.

July 4th in The Village at Sunriver

Celebrate Independence Day in The Village at Sunriver! Children of all ages will enjoy live entertainment, contests, carnival style games, a petting zoo, pony rides, delicious food and more at The Village at Sunriver 4th of July Festival.

Check out police and fire vehicles, climb up a rock wall, and grab a balloon creation on Monday, July 4th, 2022. Some activities are free of charge, and proceeds benefit local charities that serve children. So bring the whole family out for a day full of fun!

VAN HENION GRAND OPENING

We’ll be at Van Henion Brewery to help christen their new tap room and celebrate their grand opening!

Mark Henion, Dana Henion and John Van Duzer are the three founding brewers. With a combined 65+ years of brewing experience, they have brewed all over the Northwest, most notably at Boneyard Beer. At Boneyard, Mark was the Master Brewer, John the Head brewer at the Lake Place location, and Dana was a production brewer. Prior to meeting Mark while brewing at Ninkasi in 2012, Dana started her brewing career at Oakshire Brewing in 2009. Mark and John’s friendship and brewing careers began at Deschutes Brewery in 1994. Mark was the Head brewer there until his departure in 2003. The three of them have been working closely for the last seven years, and are excited to put their talent into some new delicious beers for Bend and Oregon!

Schedule:

Doors open at 10am to start checking in or getting registered and paying 

11am - Warm-ups and registration deadline
12pm - Doubles bracket; following the doubles championship we will start the women's bracket

Registration Opens October 1st, 2018

Oregon’s most challenging running relay course starts in the Cascade Mountains at Diamond Lake Resort, travels through the Oregon Outback and rural agricultural country, and winds back to the Cascade Lakes Highway, around Mt. Bachelor and into the resort community of Bend. You’ll see more cows than semi-trucks and smell pine trees instead of exhaust. If you are seeking an adventure where you can push your limits and rediscover your senses, then this is the event for you and your team.

In 1974 when Bob Marley went solo, on the brink of international stardom, he surprised the music community by choosing as his lead guitarist the American-born Al Anderson. It was Anderson’s stunning lead work on such classics as No Woman, No Cry, and Three O’Clock Road Block that first alerted rock fans to The Wailers music.

Andersons’ musical achievements with Bob Marley & The Wailers include the platinum award winning albums "‘Live at the Lyceum’, ‘Babylon by Bus’, and ten times platinum album ‘Legend’. The Original Wailers received a Grammy nomination in 2013 for their album ‘Miracle’, making it Anderson’s second Grammy nomination.

The Original Wailers also include Chet Samuel (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Omar Lopez (Bass Guitar), Howard Smith (Drums), and Noel Aiken (Keyboards/Organ) who continue the legacy of Bob Marley & The Wailers music.

Enjoying its 29th anniversary in 2019, the Summit Medical Group Oregon Munch & Music FREE concerts in Drake Park series presented by The Source Weekly and Hayden Homes continues to be a summertime favorite.
